| I still don't understand my placement on the World PCA map. How are individuals placed on that map, and why does it differ from the affinities in the Atlas?
According to my results I am closest to the Bergamo Italians followed by the Tuscan Italians and other European groups following to the 9th Affinity. My 10th Affinity is to the Druze. That I can understand, it gels with my geographical origins in Europe. What I don't understand is why on the World PCA map I am placed next to the Druze and further from the European groups I have greater affinity before the Druze. It makes no logical sense. I should be closest to the Bergamo Italians and furthest from the Druze out of the ten ethnic groups, the nine in Europe and the Druze in SW Asia. Anyone care to elucidate the reasoning or the algorithm used to place individuals on the different PCA maps? I doubt my placement on the World PCA map gives an accurate assessment of my ancestry, conversely it gives a totally false idea of ancestry in common with the Druze of the Middle East. |
